Paper Moon Trio
The members of the Paper Moon Trio first met in 2009, as singers recruited by the internationally renowned “hot jazz” orchestra The Bratislava Hot Serenaders. It was here, in a specialised and professional environment, that these former young music students mastered the “close harmony” singing techniques essential for their authentic interpretation of vintage songs from the 20s to the 40s.
Subsequently, in 2013, they felt ready to launch the Paper Moon Trio with the following line-up: Barbora Medeková (ukulele, singing); Andrea Kružliaková (guitar, singing); Kristýna Uhlíková and Juliana Seregiova (violin, singing – alternating third members).
Gaining inspiration from such time-honoured artists as the Boswell Sisters, the Mills Brothers, the Slovak trio Tri Dievcatka and the Czech trio Sestry Allanovy, the band members set to work arranging their own impressive repertoire of songs. Unsurprisingly, they soon gained a reputation for excellence and, in 2015, participated in Bratislava’s “Golden Age Festival”, alongside other prominent groups such as the Fats Jazz Band and the Boba Jazz Band. In 2016 the Paper Moon Trio performed on ‘the stage of young talents’ at the “Bratislava Jazz Days Festival” and won first prize in that year’s “Jazz Start-Up” competition.
In 2018, the band was delighted to launch the Paper Moon Trio debut album:
Teba vrúcne milujem (I Love You Dearly).
